ORGANIC QUALITY CERTIFICATION 

 

Quality Guaranty from Palestinian Ministries and laboratories

To ensure the quality and freshness of produce, fruits and vegetables are collected one day before they are sold, either in the market or shop or delivered through our weekly food basket. ADEL is in regular contact with all producers and updates the weekly offer according to the producers' harvest.

ADEL follows the Palestinian Labeling Standards, issued by the Palestine Standards Institution for food products. Accordingly, product labels include its name, ingredients, the production and expiration date, the price, etc. All processed food items sold by ADEL go through regular testing and approval processes by the Palestinian Ministries of Health and Agriculture. This is a guarantee of quality and it gives the authorization to be sold on the market. Onsite controls are also periodically conducted by a Joint Committee of the Ministry of Economy, the Palestine Standards Institution and the Palestinian Society for Consumer Protection.

 

Olive oil is examined through the Ministry of Agriculture laboratories, and the fresh agricultural products are tested in Birzeit University laboratories. To guarantee the organic quality of its products, ADEL regularly conducts its own sample testing, examined in the laboratory of Birzeit University.

 

How consumers are sure that the products are free from pesticides and chemicals ?

  • The tests results are available and presented to the producers and consumers;

  • All producers sign a charter of commitment to chemical-free production and ADEL coaches them;

  • ADEL encourages consumers' visits to farmers, to see the techniques and practices of farmers.


In the near future, ADEL would like to develop a Participatory Guarantee System, which would ensure a third-party certification and an additional guarantee to Palestinian consumers.
